If you are an administrator or power user on your Vocabulary.com subscription, you have the ability to add (and manage) additional users on your account.
Users are added to your account via invitations. You send or share an invitation with the users you'd like to add, and by clicking on the invitation, they are added to your account.
Before you start inviting users, you may want to review our various options for authenticating users and read more about the privileges associated with our different account types.

The first step to implementing Vocabulary.com at your school or district is to start inviting other users to join your subscription.
Inviting Teachers
Start by visiting the Users page under the My Account section. Click the Invite Teachers button to invite teachers to join your subscription. You'll have two options:
1. Enter in email addresses of the teachers you wish to invite. Separate email addresses by a comma or new line after each email address and click the Send Invitations button. We will send invitations to all the email addresses you enter. If the users you entered don't join, we'll send them up to 3 follow up emails, once a week.
To check on the status of any invitations you send, or to resend an invitation, click the "Pending User Invites" tab below the form.
2. Share the teacher invite link / URL with your teachers yourself. Copy and paste the URL into another document that you distribute to teachers, or click the Print a handout button to print a one pager complete with instructions for your teachers. Either way, when a user visits the URL, they will automatically become a teacher joined to your subscription. If the teacher does not have an account on Vocabulary.com yet, they will be given simple instructions about how to create one.
Remember to be careful with the teacher invite URL, anyone who visits it will become a teacher associated with your subscription.
There is no limit to the number of teachers you can invite, as long as they are employed by schools that are licensed to use your subscription.
Inviting Power Users
Start by visiting the Users page under the My Account section. Click the Invite Power Users button to invite more power users to join your subscription. Only administrators can invite other power users, so if you do not see an Invite Power Users button, you may not be an administrator.
Enter in email addresses of the power users you wish to invite. Separate email addresses by a comma or new line after each email address and click the Send Invitations button. We will send invitations to all the email addresses you enter. If the users you entered don't join, we'll send them up to 3 follow up emails, once a week.
To check on the status of any invitations you send, or to resend an invitation, click the Pending User Invites tab below the form.
Invite Administrators
Start by visiting the Users page under the My Account section. Click the Invite Administrators button to invite more administrators to join your subscription. Only administrators can invite other administrators, so if you do not see an Invite Administrators button, you may not be an administrator.
Enter in email addresses of the administrators you wish to invite.
Note: If you have configured a single sign-on provider, it is possible that we will be able to automatically identify students, teachers, power-users and administrators based on information you pass to us. Then, when we provision a Vocabulary.com account for a user for the first time, we will give them the appropriate account type, and you won't have to use invites to promote users to teacher, power user, or administrator status. In any case, you can always use the invitation system described above to promote any account to the correct level of access.
What about students? How do I invite them?
Students can join your account in one of two ways:
- Joining a class that belongs to one of your teachers. When a student joins a class, their account is associated with your subscription for the duration of the class. That means that the teacher (and any school administrators and power users) can view their progress and that the student's stats appear in school and district-wide reporting. When the class ends, the student is no longer associated with your subscription (unless they join another class later).
- Logging on to Vocabulary.com through a single sign-on (SSO) method that you have configured. When a user is provisioned through one of our single sign-on authentication options, their account is associated with your subscription permanently. As long as your subscription is active, their statistics will appear in reports.

Managing and Accessing User Accounts
You can manage existing users from the Users page under the My Account section.
Searching for a user
Enter a first name, last name, or an email address into the text box labeled Search All Users and press enter to search.
Filtering and Sorting Users
Click the Tabs at the top of the user list to filter the list (and your subsequent searches) by that user type. You can filter by Teachers, Power Users, Administrators and Teachers. If you are in the US or Canada, and you have multiple schools associated with your account, you may also filter by school association.
Viewing / Changing a User
Click on any user to see the options that are available for you on that user. Depending on the user, you will see options to:
- View Profile - View that user's profile page.
- View Reports - View reports on that user's activity. Available for Teachers, Power Users, and Admins only.
- Remove this User from Your Account - This is equivalent to un-inviting a user. They will no longer have access to your subscription, but their account will continue to exist.
- Change User's Role - Change the selected user into a Teacher, Power User, Administrator, or Student. Note that the Student option will only be available to subscriptions with a single sign-on provider configured.
Viewing Pending User Invitations
Click on the View Pending Invitations tab at the top of the users page to view pending invitations that have been sent to join this subscription.
There you may choose to resend or revoke invitations that have been previously sent, but have not yet been picked up. If we are having trouble delivering email to the invitee, you may also see a delivery status message that indicates that emails we are sending to that recipient are bouncing. If you see this message, work with your email administrator to make sure that people at your email domain are able to receive emails from vocabulary.com.
